{Summer Style Series} Why We Shop Small

I was born to be a girl mom. I’m not sure I’d have the first idea on how to style or dress a boy. But my girls… thinking about putting their outfits together is what gets me out of bed every morning. Seriously!! You can typically see their daily outfits on Instagram if you follow me. And if you don’t, you should! PR and LB love working it for the camera(phone) and have even been picked to be brand reps for Rag-A-Muffinz; check them out here for some super rad and cute tops and tees!

I love to support small businesses and there are so many out there, even a lot of mom-owned shops, that specialize in children’s clothing and accessories. I love the fact that my girls are never wearing the same thing as the other kids at the playground, playdates, or birthday parties. As much as I love their unique style, I love to support other women who are living their dreams. What’s better than that?

I’ve been so lucky to “meet” some great women online who we come back to again and again for their designs. If it wasn’t for the amazing mama behind Rhinestones and Tutus, LB’s pants would forever be down around her ankles because you can’t buy 12 month waist/3T length pants at a Old Navy or Target. Don’t get me wrong, we definitely have staple pieces from many different conventional stores like Old Navy or Target, Carter’s, OshKosh, etc. We typically will combine them with something like a handmade headband, leather bow, screen printed tee or custom leggings to give it that twothreeornottwothree flare! (Yes, twothreeornottwothree is an adjective, as proven in this post.) And if it wasn’t for Freshly Picked, the girls would be mostly barefoot. No joke, LB now cries when I put any other shoes on her and says, “No, Mama! I want my moccasins!” And heads up… at 10am MST tomorrow, they are having a sale on select mocc colors for 24 hours only. These go fast, so you need to get there right away! You can be sure that you’ll hear more about Rhinestones and Tutus and Freshly Picked, along with many others over the next weeks. So stay tuned!

Throughout this summer, I’ll be featuring some of our favorite shops and hosting a giveaway or two for you all to enjoy! I hope that you fall in love with some of the shops that we love and that you enjoy seeing how PR and LB rock their stuff. To kick it off, the girls were dressed head to toe in handmade/small business threads today. Here’s what they wore:

PRLBGood Vibes Only tank/Heart Breaker tee – Mulberry Press Co. (instagram @mulberrypressco)

Mint scalloped shorts – Rhinestones and Tutus (instagram @rhinestonesandtutus) Please also note that she is on etsy, but her shop is currently on vacation so I have linked to her Facebook where she is still having a few sales until her etsy shop reopens. You may even want to head over to her Facebook page right about now to see some adorable red, white and blue headwraps!

Feather print knot headband – Also from Rhinestones and Tutus.

Mint/white/gold chevron shorties – Sweetpeacloset is an instagram only shop (@sweetpeacloset). She will be having a ready to ship sale on Thursday, 6/5. Also in a red, white and blue theme, so I’d recommend checking her out!

Mint knot bow clip – Raine and Monet is also an instagram only shop right now (@raineandmonet). We have some tees from her that we absolutely love!

Platinum and Aruba Freshly Picked Moccs – In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with any pair of Freshly Picked moccs. (instagram @freshlypicked) Don’t forget to check their sale out tomorrow morning!

Cute stuff, right!! Join along with us this month on instagram using the hashtag #PRandLBstyle. And if you put together an outfit inspired by my two cuties, tag it! I’d love to see how you style your minis!

If there is anything you want to know more about, let me know by commenting below! If you or someone you know has a shop that would like to be featured, send me an email to twothreeornottwothree@gmail.com. I’d love to learn more and help spread the love!

  1. I think your girls are beautiful and they always looks so adorable and put together. Seeing their style has inspired me abstractly me that we don’t have to just wear “store” clothes. She is only two months old but now that you’ve introduced me to all these small shops I can’t wait to start really dressing her. Especially excited for her first pair of moccs when I can save up for them. Look forward to seeing more outfits on your girls!!!

    • Awwe congrats on your new babe! Thank you so much for your kind words. Having girls is so much fun and I love mixing cool small business finds even with everyday pieces for a unique look! We’ve got a freshly picked moccs giveaway coming up this month, so stay tuned! Maybe you’ll get your first pair sooner than you thought!
