I don’t for the life of me know where the last two years have gone. My baby will be two in exactly one month and I guess that she really isn’t a baby anymore. Life goes by so fast and these moments with my babies are fleeting because before I know it, they will be spending their evenings working on homework, planning sleepovers with their friends, picking out prom dresses, boyfriends, colleges, careers…
I already forget exactly what Princess Rapunzel was like the month before she turned two. I wish that I could freeze these moments in time and go back to them to relive every age and milestone with my babies. In case I forget exactly what Little Boo was like right at this moment, the month before she turns two, I’m writing this letter to her older self. Maybe we’ll read it together in ten years.
Dear Grown Up Little Boo,
Since you won’t remember this age and I don’t want to forget, I’m going to tell you a little bit about the almost-two-year-old version of yourself. You are my tiny little peanut and can still fit into some of your size 12 month clothes. Size 18 months fits you best. You love your bunny and have loved it ever since you were old enough to hold something in your hands. If you had it your way, you would go to bed every night with your bed full of stuffed animals and blankets. You still don’t sleep through the night, but I don’t mind the extra cuddle time with you in the middle of the night. You are recently obsessed with Hello Kitty. You have taken your sister’s Hello Kitty beanie baby and pretty much appropriated it for yourself at this point. You call all other non Hello Kitty cats “meow-meows”. It’s so cute! You have recently started to talk in longer sentences and you are like a little parrot that repeats everything. You are very good at being polite and always say things like “yes, please”, “thank you”, “welcome”, “bless you”, and “scuse me”. You love to fake sneeze. You laugh the hardest when someone tickles you. Your favorite movies right now are Tangled, The Princess and the Frog, The Little Mermaid, Gnomeo and Juliet, and Hotel Transylvania (which you call “Baby” because that baby vampire in the beginning really seems to speak to you). You don’t eat much, but the foods that you like the best are fruit snacks, oranges, grapes, and Babybel Cheese (you call it “circle cheese”). You actually seem to like meat and ate every bite of meatloaf when I made it a couple of weeks ago. When you get upset, you only want one thing – me. Your favorite TV shows right now are Sofia the First, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Yo Gabba Gabba, Curious George and Timmy Time. My favorite one to watch with you is Sofia the First. Your favorite songs are Nes Me Quitte Pas by Regina Spektor (you call it “Rain”), Cups by Anna Kendrick, and anything off of the Tangled soundtrack. You love to play with your sister and do not like it when you are awake and she is asleep. We have to stop you from running to her room and banging on her door to get her up. You love to get into her bed with her and play and read books together. When we ask you what color something is, you usually say it’s purple no matter what color it really is. You love to count, but according to you, the numbers go: 2, 3, 2, 8, 9, 10, 11. You recently started singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (but only those four words of it). You are very stubborn and are in a phase where you will throw a temper tantrum when you don’t get your way. You are our little cuddle bug and love to snuggle, especially when you are tired. If I tell you that I’m sad, you will keep hugging me until I smile. You love playing outside, especially if we go to a playground where you can go on the swing (which you call the “weeee”). You love to color and to write with pens. Now that it’s fall, you love to drink “apple spider” (cider). You love the cats, but they unfortunately do not love you so much yet (mainly because you chase them screaming and laughing), but you are working on your relationship with them with Daddy’s help. You love to smile and say “cheese” for the camera. You love to be worn in the sling and have rarely ever been in a stroller. We all love you more than you know. You are my happy little lovebug and I can’t wait to see what you will do next!
“A habu” (it’s how you say I love you)!
